They left only to move their settlers into the occupied West Bank. The remainder of Palestine is divided physically by expansionist Israel into the West Bank and Gaza. So when Israel evacuated its illegal settlers from the West Bank and increased settler activity in the West Bank (now more than 540,000 illegal settlers) it naturally affects Palestinians in Gaza. It’s the same thing as 9/11. The attack happened in New York but all Americans were affected. What fate befalls Palestinians in the West Bank affects Palestinians in Gaza and vice versa. What’s more, when Israel evacuated the settlers from Gaza, it didn’t end its control of the tiny coastal strip home to 1.7 million Palestinians (one of the most densely populated lands in the world). Israel maintains its wall around Gaza, has destroyed its only airport and controls its airspace, controls its coastline and works with Egypt to control its only corridor to the world. In other words, it may have left, but the occupation of the West Bank, an integral part of the remainder of Palestine endures, all the while Israel continues to strangle Palestinians in the Gaza, even making them food secure. I hope that sheds light on your very suggestive question.
