One Response to Rohani’s UN Speech

  1. PB says:

Interesting how Rohani’s speech was actually about connecting support to Wahabis, Drone wars, occupation, and the sanctions as all being pieces of an overall strategy of subjecting the population of ME to violence.
He essentially made the argument that these powers are not fit to solve these problems and are making it worse. He argued that Iran is the “anchor” of stability that can help to solve these issues.
This was more than anything a speech toward the bond holders, the wealthy with their money in the offshore accounts, those in power in Asian nations and possibly the Americas, that they should reject these policies as they bread “global instability.”

I think the ultimate objective of Rohani was to engage the US for 2 reasons: 1-to see if Obama is ready to deal after the Syrian set back and now that the war option is not quite on the table at this time. 2-To show the world that Iran engages the US, but if it fails he really wants to convince the US allies in Asia and Americas that they need to abandon their support for US economic sanctions. Perhaps to isolate the US in this regard and even encourage someone to take the Sanctions to IMF to be challenged.

Overall, I think this is a golden opportunity to put this behind everyone. It would be win-win for both sides. Hopefully it is successful.
