Angry Iraqi throws shoes at President Bush in Baghdad

Wow. I can’t believe Bush had shoes thrown at him. Wow. See the video here. Bush was in Iraq for a farewell visit and the shoe-throwing journalist yelled: “This is a farewell … you dog!” It’s so embarrassing that I’m almost embarrassed for him. Wow. But I got to give it to him, he’s got great reflexes, especially since he’s 62-years-old.

Normally, Bush would have counted this as an act of aggression on the USA. Since we’re already at war with Iraq, there’s nothing he can do I guess.

Bush had a good sense of humor about it. Im worried about the journalists well being. It is completely feasible that he is detained and being beaten by Iraqi Security forces.

  3. nahid says:

What a brave man, good luck to him, with wild dogs.

  4. sdf says:

If they do beat him, it is the biggest embarrassment for the current gov. of Iraq who legitimize itself by being a democracy. Iraq has to allow freedom of expression, even though it might be as unpleasant as possible. This should be extended to all aspect of opinions as long as it does not threaten the lives of Iraqi citizens.

We’ll know soon enough what happened to him bc he’s going to be a celebrity in the Arab world and he’s going to talk about it all!

  6. :) says:

MClatchy reports that this journalist covered the invasion and bombardment of Sadr city by the ISF/American forces. Apparently, he was really affected by it. Shocking.
Oh, and Arash, the Iraqi Security forces (ie Shiite death squads backed by Iran), are notorious for torture. This is what Bush came to iraq to “celebrate”.

  7. :) says:

I wonder if his show smelled like Horse Maneuver.

  8. navid says:

Why would his shoe smell like “Horse Maneuver” smiley face?

Are you trying to suggest that as an arab, his feet would smell like animal excrement? If it had been in Germany or France where a journalist did this, I bet you wouldn’t suggest that. Frankly, your comments smell a bit racist to me.

  9. :) says:

Moron, I am making fun of Arash who thought the term “horse manure” was really “horse maneuver”. It was an excuse to inject that in. Ugh, youre so boring.

  10. Julia says:

Awesome! I love the pic of the shoe in midair. Of course, two shoes are not enough! Bush deserves 100000000000 shoes in the face.
